Surat: For the first time, Saurashtrian Patels traveling from Surat’s diamond district to their hometowns in Saushtratra have been urged to install digital siren locks on their homes to safeguard them from burglars. Surat police, who have been holding rounds of meetings with societies, angadias, and diamond industries, has urged citizens to be extra cautious when traveling to their hometowns for the Diwali festival.

Every year, around 10 lakh people from Surat’s diamond hub travel to their hometowns in Saurashtra to celebrate Diwali. While many people prefer to travel by automobile, the majority of people take private luxury buses or State Transport buses to their destinations.

As part of the Diwali celebrations, the Surat Police Department is holding numerous rounds of discussions with the presidents of the society, residents, owners of the Angadiya enterprise, jewellers, and dealers to boost security. In these talks, the police have urged individuals travelling to Saurashtra in places such as Kapodra, Varachha, Sarthana, and Pune to be extremely alert.

In societies where more than 50 percent i.e. half of the society is empty, there will be more patrolling by the police.  Apart from this, the police appealed to keep a watchman in such societies also during the day shift.  Following the guidance of the Surat Police Commissioner, the residents of Varachha, Kapodra, Pune, and Sarthana areas are organizing meetings along with the police.
