Digital Smart Board
Surat (Gujarat) [India]: Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC)-run SUMAN higher secondary schools have gone digital. For the first time, nearly 12,000 students in grades 9th to 12th in about 23 SUMAN schools are being taught using ‘digital smart boards.’

Official sources said the digital smart boards have been installed in about 69 classrooms for providing education to the children studying in the grades 9th to 12th at the SUMAN schools across Surat.

SMC is the first municipal corporation in the country to provide secondary education to children in Surat. Earlier, SUMAN schools had the facility to provide education from 9th grade to 10th grade, but last year the SMC started the 11th and 12th grades to meet the demand from the city.

The SMC has spent about Rs 1.50 lakh to Rs 2 lakh for installing each of the digital smart boards. The funds have been used from the official grants of the municipal councilors.

These smart boards are equipped with state-of-the-art technology that will not only make the teaching-learning process a joyful one but also help children learn better. With the integration of technology, children will have access to all online learning resources.
