Surat (Gujarat) [India]: In what is seen as a major setback for the BJP in the tribal hinterland of south Gujarat, the tribal leaders at the forefront of the key agitations against the Par-Narmada-Tapi river linking and Statute of Unity (SoU) projects have joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

With the Gujarat Assembly Elections likely to be announced anytime soon, the tribal leaders have got associated with the AAP party to restore their constitutional rights and give justice to the tens of thousands of tribal people in south Gujarat, who are affected due to the two big-ticket projects of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.

Dr. Praful Vasava, a tribal leader who joined AAP said, “Tribals have been used by both Congress and BJP for their vote bank politics. We are yet to get our constitutional rights for the last 27 years”. “The tribals across Gujarat got united after the SoU and the Par-Narmada-Tapi river link projects. AAP and Arvind Kejriwal have given us a guarantee for restoring the tribal rights in Gujarat”

Manoj Sorathiya, general secretary of AAP Gujarat said, “AAP is getting stronger and stronger in Gujarat with each passing day. The tribal leaders have joined us to take on the BJP for their fake promises for the last 27 years. We assure them to resolve all their issues once we are voted to power in Gujarat”

Key tribal leaders joined AAP in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during his visit on Saturday. This includes Dr. Praful Vasava, Jimmy Patel, Kunjan Ramesh Dodhia, Narendra Kantilal Chaudhary, and Jaydeep Rathod.
