The senior police officer of Assam’s Goalpara district injured in a gunfight with drug traffickers

Goalpara (Assam) [India]: A deputy superintendent of police (DSP) sustained injuries during a gunfight with the drug traffickers in Assam’s Goalpara district on late Friday night. The police seized a  huge quantity of drugs and arrested the two smugglers involved in trafficking the contraband in Assam.

Anurag Sharma, DSP (Headquarters) sustained bullet injuries in the gunfight with the drug traffickers in Assam’s Golpara district on Friday night. The victim officer was rushed to the Guwahati Medical College for treatment.

Police stated that when the team tried to nab the drug traffickers they opened fire. In the ensuing melee, the DSP sustained bullet injuries. The drug traffickers were traveling on the motorcycle and they were asked to stop at the entry point in Goalpara district when the incident occurred. However, both the traffickers are in police custody and investigations are going on.
