IDT Student designs an outfit that can be worn in nine different ways during nine nights of Navratri festival.

For the first time, a student of the city-based Institute of Design and Technology (IDT), Khushi Gupta, has come up with a new creative concept where she designed a garment that can be worn in 9 different ways for the 9 nights of Navratri. However, by purchasing only one garment, the Garba players can flaunt nine different looks during the festival.

This year there is a lot of excitement for Sheri Garba across Gujarat. Last year Navratri was not celebrated anywhere due to Corona. This year, the Garba-lovers across Gujarat have geared up for Navratri with double zeal. This time, people will play Garba with their friends in their buildings and societies due to the government restrictions to curb the spread of coronavirus infections.

Keeping this in mind, the students of IDT created designer Navratri outfits. These garments were created as part of a competition organized by IDT & F-Studio.

The competition was held in the form of 3 rounds – Illustration, Accessory Making, and Garment Construction. The accessories made in the second round were put up for sale at very affordable prices at the F-Studio store. The amount received from the sale was given to the designers.

Clearing the Illustration and Accessories round, 12 participants made their way to the final round in which they created their garments and showcased them at F-Studio on Thursday.

Suruchi Parakh, Vanita Rawat, and Swasti Golwala were called for the jury for this competition. They were awed by the creations of these young designers and highly appreciated them. They also inspired the participants by sharing their journeys in this dynamic fashion industry. The students learned a lot from their experiences.
